We are just a few hours away from one of the most significant events in India's recent history as the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya gets set to be inaugurated in the presence of leading dignitaries from across politics, business, sports and entertainment.
The inauguration will also be keenly watched and followed by billions of Indians in other parts of the country as well and to mark the occasion, institutions across India have announced a holiday or a half-day on Monday, January 22.
Here's the full list of services that will be open and closed on January 22:
Banks and insurance firms: Public sector banks, insurance companies, Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and other financial institutions will remain closed until 2:30 pm on Monday. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) offices will be closed on January 22.
Government offices: The central government announced closure of all Central Institutions and Central Industrial Establishments and other central government offices until 2:30 pm on Sunday.
Stock and money markets: The stock market exchanges will remain closed on Monday, January 22 due to the Ram Mandir inauguration. The money markets will also remain closed on Monday and there will be no transactions and settlements in government securities, foreign exchange, money markets and rupee interest derivatives on Monday.
Courts: All 15 benches of the The National Company Law Tribunal will remain closed until 2:30 pm on Monday.
Hospitals: The All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi will remain open on Monday after the institute reversed its earlier decision of announcing a half-day, which led to an uproar on social media.
Liquor shops: Seven states (Assam, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand) announced the closure of liquor shops on Monday. Additionally, slaughter houses will remain shut in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
Reliance Industries announced a holiday for all its offices on Monday.
