Asian Games 2023: Social media reacts to India beating Japan 5-1 to win gold medal in hockey

This is India's fourth gold medal in their Asian Games history.

A brace from captain Harmanpreet Singh and goals from Amit Rohidas, Abhishek and Manpreet Singh helped the Indian men's hockey team clinch the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games, by beating Japan 5-1 in the final on Friday.

The gold medal finish guarantees the team a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics and will offer more confidence to both captain Harmanpreet Singh and the coaching staff, led by South Africa's Craig Fulton, of the team excelling at the French capital, in less than a year's time.

This was India's fourth Asian Games gold medal after winning twice in Bangkok, Thailand (1966 and 1998) and in Incheon, South Korea in 2014.
