All-new Apple TV app reaches 100 countries including India.
Apple recently took the lid off its new TV app, unveiling big changes, setting things up for the integration of the Apple TV Plus streaming service later this year. The latest version of the app will hit all major platforms including iPhones, iPads, Apple TV and supported Samsung Smart TVs.
Apple has rolled out several visual improvements and loads of new content to the updated TV app. Apart from its big TV+ announcement, Apple also revealed Apple TV Channels that would integrate several TV networks such as HBO, Showtime, Starz, Epix, and more into the new Apple TV app. The updated version of tvOS and iOS features a refreshed look and support the line-up of paid Apple TV Channels.
Users can now subscribe to any one of these networks directly from Apple’s TV app. Apple has also assured users who subscribe to Apple TV Channels top-tier video and audio presentation. Users who subscribe for HBO, Showtime or other networks on Apple TV Channels app stand to benefit from Apple quality service as Apple would handle the encoding and streaming rather than the video partner. This would give the Cupertino tech giant complete control of bit rate and audio fidelity.
And, while Apple isn’t providing any details on the stream quality for its video partners, it’s undoubtedly aiming to offer audiences an experience that rivals the likes of Amazon Prime and Netflix. Who knows, you might see some new details if you go back and watch Game of Thrones Season 8, “The Long Night” with hopefully less banding, pixelation, and other signs of compression
