All 4 Blackpink members renew contract with YG Entertainment for group activities

BLACKPINK was formed by YG Entertainment and debuted in 2016

After months of speculation, South Korean entertainment agency YG Entertainment has reached an agreement with all four members of the K-pop sensation BLACKPINK.

“We have successfully reached an agreement within our board of directors regarding the signing of exclusive group contracts for all four members of BLACKPINK, our esteemed artists,” YG Entertainment said in a statement. “BLACKPINK will continue to do its best to shine more brightly in the world music market as an artist representing K-POP, and we will continue to give their unwavering support and faith in their actions,” the agency added.

With this announcement, it is clear that Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa will continue their group activities under the aegis of YG Entertainment.

BLACKPINK’s contract negotiations had been ongoing since their last contracts expired in August this year. YG Entertainment’s shares soared over 20% after the contract renewal announcement on December 6.

While the agency has reached an agreement with the K-pop band to continue group activities, individual contracts are still being negotiated.

According to entertainment website Allkpop, two members, including Lisa, have already decided to part ways with YG Entertainment when it comes to individual representation.

BLACKPINK, the South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment, debuted in 2016. In time, they have become a household name at home and among K-pop fans overseas with their signature hip hop-infused music, impeccably choreographed dance routines and edgy fashion styles.

They also stand out in a K-pop industry largely dominated by boy bands.
