An 8-foot-long crocodile was spotted ambling through the rain-soaked streets of Chiplun town in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri district, sparking a frenzy on social media. The dramatic footage, captured by an autorickshaw driver in the Chinchnaka area during a steady downpour, quickly went viral, drawing a mix of awe and alarm from viewers.

The video, which has since garnered widespread attention, shows the sizeable reptile navigating the wet road while a few vehicles, including an autorickshaw with its headlights trained on the crocodile, cautiously trailed behind.

The crocodile likely ventured into the town from the nearby Shiv or Vashishti rivers, an official told news agency PTI.

Local residents were both startled and fascinated by the unusual sight, with many taking out their phones to document the encounter.
