OnePlus Nord was unveiled last week, bringing the OnePlus experience to the mid-range segment for the first time in years. However, the OnePlus Nord is only the first product in the lineup, with more devices yet to follow.
The OnePlus Nord is currently limited to Europe and India. However, another OnePlus Nord phone could be in the works, targeted towards the North American markets. The new OnePlus Nord handset is scheduled to arrive later this year, according to OnePlus CEO Carl Pei.
Additionally, a report by XDA Developers discovered several references to an upcoming OnePlus smartphone in the latest version of OxygenOS 10.5 for the Nord. The upcoming Nord device will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 690 SoC, Qualcomm’s budget 5G chipset.
While smartphones with the new Snapdragon 690 SoC are yet to arrive, the chip will have to be priced competitively, lower than both the Snapdragon 765 and 768 series as well as the MediaTek Dimensity 800 and 820 chips. This should make the upcoming OnePlus Nord even cheaper than the current one.
