In Pics: Everything you need to know about Ford's electric SUV, the Mustang Mach E

The 'Mach E' name has been derived from Ford's first generation Mustang, the Mach 1. The nameplate serves as a starting point for its own model line in the future. The new electric SUV is also the first electric car to come out of Ford's stable developed by the company's Team Edison group in Detroit.

Tech wise, the most outstanding thing about the Mach E will be the lack of door handles. Instead the SUV gets a button that lights up when the connected phone is nearby and pops the door open. A discreetly placed hook on the door allows you to pull open the door. In case the phone is switched off, the car also has a keypad on the B pillar for security. (Image source: Ford)

Interiors have been upgraded by a lot too. The dashboard now sports a Tesla-like tablet as in the infotainment system. This will be responsible for most of the car's system functions. The instrument cluster, too, is not conventional and gets a floating digital display behind the steering wheel. (Image source: Ford)
