Here's a look at Royal Enfield's latest launch - the RE Classic 500 Pegasus

Eicher Motors controlled Royal Enfield has launched a limited edition Classic 500 Pegasus of which only 1,000 units will be produced.

It pays homage to the iconic two-stroke RE/WD 125 motorcycle, popularly called the 'Flying Flea', used by British paratroopers in World War II, and manufactured at Royal Enfield's underground facility in Westwood, UK.

The RE Classic 500 Pegasus is built on the Royal Enfield Classic 500. Only 1,000 units of the Pegasus edition will be built and just 250 of them will be sold in India. Rest of the units will be sold in the UK, the US and Australia.

Though the bike will come in two colours, Service Brown and Olive Drab Green, in India, it will only be available in the former. It will pack familiar single cylinder 4-stroke air cooled, 499cc electronic fuel injection engine delivering 27.2 bhp @ 5250 pm and 41.3 Nm @ 4000 rpm. The engine will be mated to 5-speed gear box.

The bikes come bearing the famous Pegasus insignia—the official symbol used by the Parachute Regiment of the British Army. Apart from that, each bike will come with other military markers which include brown handlebar grips, a leather strap with a brass buckle across the air filter, blacked out silencers, dual saddle bags to complete its period look.

The Classic 500 Pegasus Limited Edition will be priced just above Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The company is also offering themed motorcycle accessories and apparels to complete the look while you are driving it.
