Nissan will launch a new MPV and two new SUVs as the company looks to strengthen its position in the Indian market.
Owners of the new Nissan Magnite can now opt for warranty coverage of up to a decade or 2 lakh km, with flexible plans available through authorised Nissan dealers in India.
The company, which has increased headcount at its Chennai plant by 600 to add a third shift, does not foresee steps to cut 9,000 jobs and 20 per cent production globally having an impact on India as long as it remains competitive in the market, Nissan India Operations President Frank Torres told PTI.
The investment is over and above the USD 600 million the company has earmarked for new product development and creating additional sales infrastructure in the country as it eyes trebling domestic sales to 1 lakh units and exports to a similar number by 2026
Priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 3 crore, are set to be launched in the coming year, of which 65% are Sports or Multi Utility Vehicles (SUV/MPVs) spanning various price segments.
Under the partnership, ExxonMobil will supply an extensive range of engine oils to Nissan India that are compatible not only with BS-VI standards but also to the older generation BS-III or BS-IV PVs of the carmaker, a release said on Wednesday.
Nissan Motor India’s wholesales in February 2020 were 1,029 units, according to the company.

The variant would be available from today at all Nissan and Datsun dealerships across the country, Nissan Motor India said in a statement.
Besides, it said, NIMPL Vice President, Marketing and Datsun Business Unit, Jerome Saigot will now be responsible for sales and marketing for both Nissan and Datsun brands of the company. Under the new structure, Saigot will report to Kuehl and will continue to be based at NMIPL's office in Gurugram, the company added.
The petrol variants are priced between Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 6.95 lakh, while the diesel trims are tagged between Rs 6.62 lakh and Rs 7.23 lakh.
Sunny will be now available at a starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh going up to Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd (NMIPL) said in a statement.
For the fiscal ended March 31, 2017, the company said it sold 57,315 units as against 39,393 units in the preceding financial year, up 45 percent.
The strong sales performance in February is attributable to the ongoing increase in sales of Nissan and Datsun brand vehicles in India, such as Nissan Micra and Datsun redi-GO," the company said in a statement.
The company sells products across hatchback, MUV, SUV and sedan segments under the Nissan and Datsun brands in India.
Moreover, for the first three quarters of the current fiscal, Nissan and Datsun's combined sales achieved an impressive 50 percent growth rate, the company said in a statement.
Commenting on the sales results, Nissan Motor India Managing Director Arun Malhotra said: "Despite the impact of the liquidity crunch on the current demand for cars, Nissan India posted a healthy growth of 52 percent in November with the continued solid performance of the Datsun redi-GO."
The SUV, which comes with 6-speed diesel AMT, is based on the top-of-the-line XVD premium grade. Customers can pre-book their cars with a deposit of Rs 25,000 at Nissan dealerships.
Commenting on the sales performance, NMIPL Managing Director Arun Malhotra said the ongoing fiscal has been encouraging especially the last quarter.
"This is the third straight month that Nissan Motor has sold over 5,000 vehicles in one month. Our robust performance continued in August thanks to the strong sales of the Datsun redi-GO and its positive reception across India," Nissan India Operations President Guillaume Sicard said in a statement.
"Our sales have been gaining momentum over the past few months and the trend has been encouraging. The customers have responded positively to the new Datsun redi-GO," Nissan Motor India Managing Director Arun Malhotra said in a statement.
There are some difficulties, but it is a good market for small cars. We have strong focus in this market," Nissan Motor India Managing Director Arun Malhotra told PTI here.
