Speaking at MAIT's Electronics Manufacturing Summit 2019, Electronics and IT Secretary Ajay Prakash Sawhney said there has been a "widening and deepening" of the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the country.
"Hopefully in couple of months we will be coming out with new National National Policy on electronics," Sawhney said at an Assocham event.
"Those who are making mobile phones have all the ingredients to explore new-age technology," Sawhney said at an event of mobile manufacturers organised by industry body Indian Cellular Association.
As per the study on 'Incentivising Domestic Handset Manufacturing Under GST', adoption of smartphone in India is expected to reach 688 million by 2020 as compared to 238 million in 2015.
