Nitish Kumar resigns as Bihar CM: Twitterati join PM in praising JD(U) leader

The Prime Minister congratulated Nitish Kumar for his decision, saying it was a big step in the fight against corruption.

Criticising alliance partner RJD over corruption charges against senior leaders of the party, JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar on Wednesday resigned as the Chief Minister of Bihar.

Talking to the media outside Governor Tripathi’s house, Kumar said that he took the decision with the best interests of the state in mind.

The decision was made at a meeting of JD(U) ministers on Wednesday evening after RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav ruled out the resignation of his son Tejashwi Yadav as the deputy chief minister. Both Lalu Yadav and Kumar have claimed that the latter had never asked for Tejashwi’s resignation.

Soon after the announcement, Twitterati went gaga with praises over Nitish Kumar and his decision to leave the post.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Nitish Kumar over this move and tweeted about it:
