The BJP is looking form the government in Goa despite finishing second, as the Maharashtra Gomantak Party, Goa Forward Party and Nationalist Congress Party have extended support to it, reports CNN News18, quoting sources.

All three parties are backing ex-Goa Chief Minister and now Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for the Chief Minister’s position, and so are independent candidates, say sources.

BJP has won 13 seats in the Goa assembly, 8 short of a majority. Congress has won 17.

Sources told CNN News18 that the BJP central leadership will take a call on Parrikar returning to Goa as Chief Minister. The BJP Parliamentary Board will be meeting at 6 to discuss the issue.

In case Parrikar returns to Goa as Chief Minister, it would force a reshuffle in the Cabinet, as he holds the important Defence portfolio.
