The government has launched an unconventional recruitment drive to hire "talented and motivated" Indians aged over 40 as joint secretaries. If you fulfil the criteria, here is how to apply for the job:

Eligibility | In order to apply, one has to be an Indian citizen aged 40-years or above on July 1, 2018. A candidate must be a graduate or above in any discipline from a recognised institute/university.

Experience | One must have had 15 years of working experience in any one of the following fields: (i) Revenue (ii) Financial Services (iii) Economic Affairs (iv) Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers’ Welfare (v) Road Transport & Highways (vi) Shipping (vii) Environment, Forests and Climate Change (viii) New & Renewable Energy (ix) Civil Aviation and (x) Commerce.

Number of seats | In total, there are ten vacant seats, one each for the expertise listed above. The selected candidates will be deputed in the respective governmental departments and ministries.

Contract duration | The period of contract shall be for 3 years from the date of commencement extendable up to 5 years depending upon performance.

Salary and benefits | Salary will be on par with Joint secretaries in the government. The selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs 1,44,200- 2,18,200 per month.
