Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are exotic new digital assets, which are seeing a massive surge in sales. For example, Amitabh Bachchan's NFT collections of 'Madhushala', of autographed posters and collectibles, sold for nearly Rs 7.18 crore in an auction. Soon, Kamal Haasan, Salman Khan and other celebrities will be launching their own collections. NFT is being portrayed as a digital solution to creating unique collectibles and its buyers are hoping to make a killing on resale. While it is an innovative product, NFT is still new as an investment option with no regulatory oversight or historical data to arrive at the right valuation. Therefore, investor caution is advised.
