India's largest bank State Bank of India (SBI) explains to its customers how to generate the Green PIN in its 40 seconds video posted on Twitter. Green PIN is an easy and convenient way to generate debit card PIN via many channels like ATM, Internet Banking, IVR and SMS. Arundhati Bhattacharya, former chairman of SBI launched Green PIN initiative in 2016.

Here is the step-by-step guide on how to generate your SBI debit card PIN or SBI green PIN at IVR through contact centre:
- From your registered mobile number, dial toll-free number 800 112 211 or 1800 425 3800.
- Press 2 for ATM debit card related service. Press 1 for PIN generation.
- Press 1 if you are calling from your registered mobile number or else Press 2 to speak with an agent.
- Enter last 5 digits of ATM card for which you wish to generate a Green PIN.
- Press 1 to confirm the last 5 digits.
- Press 2 to re-enter the last 5 digits of ATM card.
- Enter last 5 digits of the Account number.
- Press 1 to confirm the last 5 digits.
- Press 2 to re-enter the last 5 digits of the Account number.
- Enter your birth year.
- You have successfully generated your Green PIN.
- The Green PIN has been sent to your registered mobile number.
SBI provides seven kinds of ATM/debit cards to its account holders. The daily cash withdrawal limit ranges from Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh, depending upon the variant of the card. Eight free transactions are allowed by SBI to its regular savings account holders to transact in a month and above eight transaction bank charges on every transaction.
