Online education has seen new highs during the pandemic. As students have been forced to stay at home, ed-tech startups like Byju's, Vedantu and Unacademy have capitalised on this, growing 200% month-on-month, adding new courses, more teachers and making more modules free. Revenues are also real, and discounts fewer. A red-hot funding scene has followed too. For the first 9 months of the year, edtechs have raised $1.7 billion, the highest in a single year, and more than 4x of 2019's figure. For venture capitalists, with many other sectors struggling or recovering slowly, edtech looks an ever better prospect.
