The well-known pastor from Jalandhar, Punjab, Bajinder Singh, has been charged with sexual harassment after a woman claimed that the pastor had assaulted her. Singh, on the other hand, disputed the accusations, saying the girl came to him for prayer because she was afflicted by an "evil spirit."
In the complaint filed, the woman alleged that she and her parents have been visiting the church since October 2017. Singh, known for the viral 'Mera Yeshu Yeshu' video, took her mobile number and started sending messages. While talking to the police, she claimed that she was afraid of the pastor and could not reveal the sexual assault to her parents.
She even alleged that Singh made her sit alone in a cabin in the church on Sundays and hugged and touched her inappropriately since 2022.
“While talking to me over the phone, the accused used to have unwanted and vulgar conversations, to which I always objected. “In the year 2022, I attended his congregations on Sundays, where he used to touch me inappropriately when I was alone in his cabin,” the complainant told the police.
The police informed that a case has been registered against him under sections 354 A (sexual harassment), 354 D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“We are cross-checking and verifying the allegations levelled by the woman,” Kapurthala City police station house officer (SHO) Bikramjit Singh said, adding that the accused is yet to be arrested, The Hindustan Times reported.
“The arrest will be made on the basis of evidence that will come to the fore during the course of the investigation,” the SHO added.
Singh has a sizable social media following, and his videos frequently show up in Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Several well-known personalities, including actor Chunky Pandey and Aditya Pancholi, have supported him over the past few months.
Notably, Bajinder Singh claims to cure all kinds of diseases. In one of his old viral videos, Singh claimed to have cured a speech anomaly in a mute girl who allegedly had been unable to speak since birth.
Hailing from Haryana, Bajinder currently resides in New Chandigarh. In 2012, he became a self-styled preacher after converting to Christianity. He claimed to practice "miracle healing" and use prayers at his congregations to cure paralysis, deadly diseases, and other afflictions.
