Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on September 28 said that his government has attracted Rs 10 lakh crore in investments and created 31 lakh jobs since May 2021.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of Tata Motors Group’s world-class production facility for cars and SUVs in Panapakkam, Ranipet district in Tamil Nadu, Stalin said, “DMK-led government attracted more than Rs 10 lakh crore in investments and generated direct and indirect employment for 31 lakh people. We aim to make Tamil Nadu a trillion-dollar economy by 2030. We want to transform it into the best investment destination not only in India but also in South Asia."
“We have travelled across the globe to secure these investments, and we are committed to fast-tracking their implementation. Today’s event is a testament to that commitment. Tata Motors signed an MoU for this project in March this year, and within just six months, we are here for the foundation stone-laying ceremony. This is proof of our government’s dedication to the development of Tamil Nadu and its youth,” he said.

He thanked Tata Motors for choosing Ranipet district for the project, which involves an investment of Rs 9,000 crore and is expected to create 5,000 jobs. “As I often emphasise, balanced development across all districts is crucial. The establishment of Tata Motors in Ranipet is yet another step toward this goal,” Stalin said.
Recalling the state's industrial legacy, Stalin said, “In 1973, the late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi initiated the Sipcot project in Ranipet. After 50 years, it is heartening to witness various companies flourishing here.”
He also urged Tata Group to make additional investments in Tamil Nadu. The CM highlighted that Tata Group’s operations in the state have created employment for tens of thousands of young people, particularly women, significantly improving their standard of living.
He also said that Tamil Nadu is the automobile manufacturing capital of India and is emerging as a hub for electric vehicles. “Global automobile companies like Ford, Hyundai, Renault Nissan, and Tata Motors, have made Tamil Nadu their base. In fact, 40 percent of all electric vehicles sold in India are produced here. Tamil Nadu is also ranked first in electronics exports in India,” Stalin added.

Tamil Nadu is a leading industrial state with progressive policies and an established automotive hub with a qualified and talented workforce.”
Tata Motors Group plans to invest Rs 9,000 crore in this greenfield manufacturing facility, which is designed for an annual production capacity of over 250,000 vehicles.
