In fact, actress tells officials that Sushant had taken care of some of her expenses under mutual understanding. Rhea, brother Showik and their father questioned for over 10 hours. Sushant’s former business manager says actor behaved well even with his servants.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday questioned actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik and their father Indrajit Chakraborty for around 10 hours in connection with the mysterious death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The 34-year-old Sushant was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14. His father has accused Rhea, who was having a live-in relationship with Sushant, and others, including her family members, of abetting the actor's suicide.
Rhea, along with her brother and father, reached the ED office in Mumbai around 11 am and the questioning continued till 9 pm. A source told Moneycontrol: "Rhea mentioned in her statement that she has not made any investment or created assets from Sushant's money. He took care of some of my expenses under mutual understanding.”
On Monday, ED officials also questioned Sushant's former business manager Shruti Modi.
Modi, according to sources, told ED officials that Rhea was taking decisions for Sushant when she was working as a business manager.
Modi was also questioned for over 10 hours. According to a source, “Shuruti Modi was with Sushant Singh when he was going through depression and Modi praised Sushant as a great human being. Modi mentioned that he was a deep thinker and wanted to do something for society and he always behaved well with subordinates, even with servants".
The ED is likely to question Rhea and her family again after recording the statements of Sushant’s family next week.
On Monday, Rhea and her family members were questioned about their properties, source of income and movable assets created in the past two years.
ED sources said that the three were questioned separately, and Rhea didn’t respond satisfactorily to many queries.
Showik, who was earlier questioned for around 18 hours from Saturday noon till Sunday morning, also didn’t respond well to questions.
Though sources claim that the agency is yet to find any crucial evidence against Rhea and her family members, they are analysing her bank statements and investments by her and family members.
ED officials are trying to trace the alleged Rs 15 crore, which, they suspect, were siphoned off from Sushant's bank accounts, according to a complaint filed by the actor’s father.
Showik, regarding his association with the late actor in a company called Front India For World Foundation, said that it was engaged in social work.
Another company, Vividrage Rhealtyx, was created to develop virtual reality content, he said. Though both companies were registered, work was yet to start.ED officials have taken the phones of the three for mobile mapping. ED officials also questioned Sushant's friend and creative content manager Siddharth Pithani. Pithani, a resident of Hyderabad, was summoned by the agency last week.
