Ram is compassion, they can never be cruel. Ram is love, they can never appear in disgust, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations in Ayodhya during the Ram temple Bhoomi Poojan, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said Lord Ram is a manifestation of the best human qualities. Congress has, over the years, presented itself as a secular party and has not openly embraced Hinduism. This tweet marks a shift.
Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi wrote in Hindi, "Lord Ram is the manifestation of the best human qualities. He is the core of humanity in the depths of our mind."
— Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) August 5, 2020
"Ram is justice, he can never appear in injustice," Rahul said.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, too, spoke on the occasion. On the eve of Ram Temple bhoomi poojan, Priyanka said that the event will become an occasion of national unity with the blessings of Lord Ram.
Taking to Twitter, she said, "Simplicity, courage, restraint, sacrifice and commitment are the essence of Lord Ram. Ram is within everyone, Ram is with everyone."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5 laid the foundation stone of Ram Temple. Beginning his speech with Jai Siya Ram, the Prime Minister told the gathering that a grand temple will be built for Ram Lalla, the infant Ram, who had been living in a temporary tent for years.
Despite efforts to eradicate Lord Ram's existence, he lives in our hearts and is the basis of our culture, Modi said. "Social harmony was the core principle of Lord Ram's governance," the prime minister said.
The construction of the Ram temple, he said, is an instrument to unite the country. The Ram temple construction will lift the economy of the entire region, Modi said. The prime minister unveiled a plaque and released a commemorative postal stamp.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were among those who attended the event at the site. The guest list, including religious leaders who formed part of the movement that started in the 1980s, was restricted to 175 in view of the COVID-19 crisis.
