President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have conveyed their New Year greetings to the country, expressing wishes for happiness, peace, prosperity, and good health for all.
In her New Year's wishes, President Murmu wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Warm greetings for the New Year to all! May the year 2024 usher in happiness, peace, and prosperity for everyone."
“Let us welcome the New Year with a renewed commitment to contribute to inclusive and sustainable development,” the President of India wrote on the micro-blogging site.
PM Modi extended his greetings to the nation on the first day of the new year. In his message, the PM expressed his wishes for prosperity, peace, and good health for all.
In a tweet, PM Modi wrote, "Wishing everyone a splendid 2024! May this year bring forth prosperity, peace and wonderful health for all."
India is expecting a promising year in 2024, with significant events already on the horizon. Among the significant events scheduled is the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, a moment of great cultural and religious significance. Additionally, the country is keenly watching the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in April-May, a crucial democratic process that will shape the political landscape of the nation.
Looking back at 2023, the country experienced significant events that had a big impact both within the nation and globally. One remarkable moment was hosting the G20 Summit in New Delhi in September. Another historic achievement occurred in July and August when Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the unexplored area of the Moon's South Pole.
Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared a picture with Mother Sonia Gandhi, extending New Year wishes for happiness and prosperity. In his message, he expressed hopes for the New Year to bring happiness and prosperity to everyone's lives and emphasised the importance of justice and love in India.
Separately, in another post on X, PM Modi extended birthday wishes to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
"Birthday wishes to cabinet minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia Ji, who has made a great effort to enhance aviation related infrastructure across India," the PM wrote on the micro-blogging site.
