Prashant Kishor, the chief of Jan Suraaj, has laid out his vision for the party leading up to the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. Addressing media, Kishor highlighted two key pillars of his strategy: enhancing women's empowerment and creating local job opportunities.
Kishor announced that Jan Suraaj plans to contest all 243 seats in the 2025 elections, with a strong emphasis on women’s representation. He also revealed plans to promote 70-80 women to leadership roles within Jan Suraaj by 2030. "In 2025, Jan Suraaj will contest 243 seats and at least 40 women candidates will be nominated. We have also said that in 2030, 70-80 women will be made leaders from Jan Suraaj," Kishor stated.
Kishor emphasized that true gender equality and participation cannot be achieved without economic independence for women. He stated that economic independence is crucial for women to fully participate in the political and social spheres. "This was not a meeting of the women's cell, it was an effort to make women leaders in the true sense. Till the time women do not get economic independence, their equal participation is not possible," he said.
Kishor also addressed economic concerns, promising that a Jan Suraaj government would prevent residents from being compelled to leave Bihar for low-paying jobs. "In 2025, when Jan Suraaj forms the government, no one should have to migrate for a job that pays Rs 10,000-12,000," he asserted. He highlighted that the party has developed a comprehensive blueprint to create local job opportunities and enhance economic development in the state.
The party, scheduled to be officially formed on October 2 in Bihar, earlier said it would feature a 25-member central committee. This committee will include representatives from various social categories, including the general category, other backward classes (OBCs), extremely backward classes (EBCs), scheduled castes, and minorities. , Founder members who propose at least 5,000 supporters can participate in electing central committee members. Kishor announced that he will not seek a leadership position but will focus on his ongoing foot march across Bihar. He emphasized his commitment to ensuring the new party establishes a strong grassroots presence before the state Assembly elections at the end of 2025.
