Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the inaugural run of the Steam Heritage Special Train between Ekta Nagar and Ahmedabad. The inauguration took place through a video link from the site of the world's largest statue, the Statue of Unity.
The launch of this special train was a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, often referred to as the 'Iron Man of India' on his birth centenary. This train service aims to provide a unique and nostalgic experience to tourists visiting the Statue of Unity.
The Ekta Nagar railway station connects tourists from across the country to the iconic Statue of Unity. This special heritage train, with its distinctive heritage appearance, evokes memories of the bygone era of steam engine locomotives. Its interiors are designed to offer a luxurious and memorable travel experience.
The regular run of the Ahmedabad-Ekta Nagar Steam Heritage Special train will begin from November 5. Train No 09409 will depart from Ahmedabad every Sunday at 6:10am, reaching Ekta Nagar at 9:50am the same day. The down train, No 09410, will run from 8:35pm every Sunday to 12:05am the next day.
The Steam Heritage Special Train comprises four AC Vistadome-type coaches, including three air-conditioned executive chair car coaches and a restaurant dining car. These coaches have been thoughtfully modified to incorporate modern features, creating a pleasant and comfortable travel experience for passengers.
The booking for Train No 09409/09410 is now open and can be made at all PRS counters and on the IRCTC website. The Advance Reservation Period for this train is 30 days.
This initiative to run the Steam Heritage Special Train aims to promote tourist-friendly travel and showcase the rich heritage of the Indian Railways. The train features two locomotives modified to resemble steam locomotives, adding a touch of nostalgia to the journey.
The steam locomotives are designed to replicate the look and feel of the first indigenously built Steam Loco No. F734, offering passengers a glimpse into the past, while enjoying the modern amenities of today's railways. The launch of this train aligns with India's commitment to preserving its railway heritage and offering unique travel experiences to tourists.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrating his visionary statesmanship and dedication to shaping the nation's destiny. He highlighted Sardar Patel's commitment to national integration and expressed gratitude for his service to the nation.
