AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday tore into terrorist Dr Umar Nabi for justifying suicide bombing in an undated video, saying that such acts are "haram in Islam" and "killing of innocents is a grave sin".
Owaisi slammed Umar for describing suicide bombing as "martyrdom" and calling it a "misunderstood" concept. Umar was the bomber who triggered the deadly explosion in an i20 car near Red Fort on November 10, killing 15 people and injuring several others.
In a post on X, Owaisi said: "There is an undated video of Delhi blasts accused Umar Nabi justifying suicide bombing as “martyrdom,” and that it’s “misunderstood.” Suicide is haram in Islam and the killing of innocents is a grave sin. Such acts are also against the law of the land."
The AIMIM chief added that such terrorist acts are not “misunderstood” in any way.
"This is terrorism and nothing else."
Targeting the Centre, Owaisi further said that home minister Amit Shah claimed in Parliament that no local Kashmiri had joined terror groups in the last six months. He further asked how the new terror module came into existence.
"During Operation Sindoor and Mahadev AmitShah had assured Parliament that no local Kashmiri had joined terror groups in the last six months. Where did this group come from then? Who is accountable for the failure to detect this group," he asked.
Earlier this week, a chilling video of Umar surfaced in which he can be heard defending suicide attacks, describing them as “martyrdom operations.”
Calling suicide bombing “one of the very misunderstood concepts,” he said it is “a martyrdom operation… known in Islam.”
He acknowledged the objections surrounding the idea, saying “multiple contradictions” and “multiple arguments” have been raised against it.
He further defined such an operation as one in which a person “presumes that he is going to die at a particular place and time.” Umar also remarked that no one can truly know when they will die, adding, “Don’t fear death.”
The Centre, last week, officially classified the Red Fort explosion as a “terrorist incident,” as investigators uncovered indications that Dr Umar may have planned the attack to coincide with the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary on December 6.
