The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and highway developers to launch their own YouTube channels and upload regular videos showcasing the progress of highway projects at various stages.

Announcing the move, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the initiative aims to enhance accountability and transparency in public works. He added that QR-coded hoardings will soon be installed along national highways, allowing commuters to scan and access complete project details, including the contractor, consultant, and government officials responsible for the stretch.

“The QR code will carry information about the contractor, consultant, and officers who cleared the road. If a road is bad and people are complaining about it on social media, take it seriously. Main kyu gaali khaun?” Gadkari remarked at a public event, stressing that responsibility should be shared among all stakeholders.

Emphasizing the need for quality infrastructure, Gadkari said that road users deserve smooth, world-class roads since they pay tolls for maintenance and service. “Weather or poor bitumen cannot be excuses. If the surface is not comfortable, fix it, cost may increase, but comfort is non-negotiable,” he asserted.
