Max Aerospace & Aviation Pvt Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to establish a state-of-the-art helicopter manufacturing facility in Nagpur.
With a proposed investment of Rs 8,000 crore over the next eight years, the project is expected to create over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs, providing employment boost to the Vidarbha region. Construction of the facility is set to begin in 2026.
The agreement was formalised at Mumbai’s Sahyadri Guest House in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who called the project a milestone in Maharashtra’s journey toward becoming an aerospace hub.
The MoU was signed by Industries Department Secretary P. Anbalagan and Max Aerospace Chairman Bharat Malkani. Other dignitaries present included MIDC CEO P. Velrasu, Max Aerospace CFO Kirit Mehta, Business Development Head Meghna Malkani, President Jayesh Mehta, and senior advisors.
"This is not just an investment in Nagpur, but in India's strategic capabilities. Maharashtra is committed to providing all necessary support for timely execution and success of this venture," CM Fadnavis said.
He added that such initiatives are crucial to the national vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, furthering self-reliance in the defence sector.
"This is not just an investment in Nagpur, but in India's strategic capabilities. Maharashtra is committed to providing all necessary support for timely execution and success of this venture," Chairman Bharat Malkani said.
The upcoming facility will focus on customisation, integration, and flight testing of rotary-wing platforms. Designed to function as a Centre of Excellence, the plant will incorporate global technologies and benefit from its proximity to Nagpur Airport, allowing efficient logistics and supply chain operations.
This marks Maharashtra’s first dedicated helicopter production facility, further solidifying its position as a preferred destination for high-tech, future-ready industries.
