Maharashtra's government has officially rolled out its new initiative, the ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana,’ aimed at providing financial support to women across the state. This flagship scheme promises to deliver Rs 1,500 each month to over one crore women.

Maharashtra's new scheme, the ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana,’ aims to bolster economic security and independence for women across the state by providing monthly financial assistance. Officially launched on August 17, 2024, the scheme offers a benefit of Rs 1,500 per month to eligible women.

To qualify for this assistance, women must be permanent residents of Maharashtra and fall within the age range of 21 to 65 years. Additionally, the scheme targets women from households with an annual income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the financial stability and self-reliance of women in the state.

How to apply:

1. Online Registration: Women can apply via the ‘Nari Shakti Dhoot’ app.
2. Offline Assistance: For those unable to apply online, local officials such as anganwadi workers and gram sevaks are available to assist with the application process.
3. Aadhar Linkage: Applicants are advised to link their Aadhar cards to their bank accounts to streamline the verification and disbursement process.

Benefits:

- Immediate Financial Aid: The scheme has already disbursed Rs 3,000 to over 3 million women as part of a trial run.
- Annual Cost: The scheme is expected to cost the state government approximately Rs 46,000 crore per year.
- Empowerment Goal: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized that the scheme aims not only to provide financial support but also to foster self-reliance and independence among women.
