J&K DDC election results: Gupkar alliance secures control of seven district councils in Kashmir, BJP wins five in Jammu

The People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) has secured control of at least seven of the 20 district development councils (DDCs) of Jammu and Kashmir that voted in the first-ever DDC elections held in the Union territory.

The regional alliance can also stake claim to five other councils  if at all it decides to go together with the Congress, which contested the elections alone. A decision has not been taken in this direction yet.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won a majority in five district councils in Jammu division.
