Jayalalithaa portrait unveiled at Tamil Nadu secretariat, DMK opposes move

The DMK has condemned the portrait stating that Jayalalithaa had been convicted in a disproportionate assets case and therefore wasn’t eligible for such the honour.

DMK has opposed the unveiling of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalaithaa’s portrait at the secretariat on Monday. The party boycotted the event and its MLA J Anbazhagan had submitted a representation to Assembly Speaker’s office on Sunday against the event.

The DMK has condemned the portrait stating that Jayalalithaa had been convicted in a disproportionate assets case and therefore wasn’t eligible for such the honour.

State Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal unveiled the portrait in the presence of CM E Palaniswami, deputy CM O Panneerselvam and other MLAs.
