IPS officer Balaji Srivastav will hold the additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced on June 29. The senior police officer would take over the role following the end of tenure of current Delhi Police chief SN Shrivastava.
"Consequent upon the superannuation of SN Shrivastava, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Balaji Srivastav will hold the additional charge of Commissioner of Police, Delhi," said a statement issued by the MHA.
Shrivastava, a 1985-batch IPS officer, is scheduled to retire from the police force on June 30. His successor, Srivastav, is a 1988-batch officer, belonging to the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram UT (AGMUT) cadre.
Srivastav was earlier appointed as Special Commissioner of Police – Vigilance, Delhi Police, on December 22 last year.
He will hold the additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner till the "appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier", the Home Ministry noted.
