Indians abducted in Mali: Former Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik requests MEA intervention after Ganjam woman claims son incommunicado

BJD president and former chief minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik on Saturday requested the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene in the abduction of a man from the state's Ganjam district in African nation Mali. This comes after a woman in from Odisha's Ganjam district moved police stating that she is unable to contact her son, who is working at a cement factory in the West African country.

Former CM and BJD president Naveen Patnaik shared on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), "Concerned to know that Panad Venkat Raman of Hinjilicut block of Ganjam district has been kidnapped by extremists in the African Country Mali. He has remained incommunicado since then, leaving his family in deep agony. Request Union Minister (@MEABharat) Shri @DrSJaishankar to personally intervene in the matter and secure his early and safe release."

P Narasama, a resident of Samarajhol village under Hinjili police station limits, said she is worried about her 28-year-old son P Venkatraman working in a cement factory in Kayes in Mali after getting the news about the abduction of three Indians working at a cement factory in the West African country.

"I am very much worried about the fate of my son. I requested the government for his safe release," said Narasama, a widow.
