A new-generation vehicle (NGV) logistics hub for the armed forces has been inaugurated in Leh, with plans for satellite hubs at key border locations, including Kargil, Tangtse, and Nyoma along the India-Pakistan and India-China borders in Ladakh.

Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps, formally inaugurated the facility on Thursday. A defence spokesperson described the hub as a significant step toward strengthening high-altitude operational readiness.

The initiative is designed to address the unique logistics and maintenance challenges posed by operating modern NGVs in high-altitude regions, which can remain inaccessible for up to six months during winter due to extreme terrain and weather conditions.

The Leh facility features a centralised, integrated logistics and equipment sustenance system to enhance turnaround times, ensure better spare availability, and support long-term operational sustainability, the spokesperson said.
