Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech is scheduled to begin at 7.30 am on August 15 and will be aired by the national broadcaster Doordarshan and live- streamed on multiple platforms.

India's 74th Independence Day speech will be delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi live to the nation from the iconic Red Fort in New Delhi on August 15.

PM Modi's speech and the traditional ceremony will be aired on television and live-streamed by national broadcaster Doordarshan. Independence Day celebrations, however, will be curtailed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

PM Modi's Independence Day speech is expected to begin at 7.30 am after hoisting of the national flag on the ramparts of the Red Fort.

PM Modi speech will also be live-streamed on the Press Information Bureau (PIB)’s YouTube channel.

President Ram Nath Kovind will also address the nation on the eve of Independence Day. President Kovind’s address will be aired live on Doordarshan and via All India Radio (AIR) at 7.00 pm on August 14. The president is expected to first deliver his address in Hindi and then in English, as per convention.

President Ram Nath Kovind's speech will also be live-streamed on the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s YouTube channel. This will be followed by the national anthem and a 21-cannon salute as a tribute to the freedom fighters.
