The income tax officers were in for a surprise after they found three crocodiles during a raid at the house of former BJP MLA Harvansh Singh Rathore's house in Madhya Pradesh.
Besides the crocodiles, the officers also found gold, crores of cash, and benami imported cars, reported NDTV.
The Income Tax department has been raiding the houses of Rathore and former councillor Rajesh Kesharwani in Sagar, both are partners in a beedi business, since Sunday on allegations of evasion of crores in tax.
As per the officials, Kesharwani alone evaded tax worth Rs 140 crore, and related documents have been found during the raid.
As reported by NDTV, the raid revealed a tax invasion of Rs 155 crore. The officials have also seized Rs 3 crores in cash along with gold and silver jewellery valued in crores of rupees.
During the raid at Rathore's, IT officials to their surprise, found three crocodiles in a small pond at his house, after which the forest department was alerted.
Several benami imported cars were also found at properties belonging to Kesharwani's family. The Income Tax department has sought information regarding the owners of these cars from the Transport department.
