In a first, Bengaluru traffic police’s annual fine collection crosses Rs 200 crore

The surge in fine collection is linked to the 50 percent discount offered from August 23 to September 14, 2025, which led to the settlement of 3.86 lakh pending cases and generated Rs 106 crore in fines

In a first, Bengaluru traffic police’s annual fine collection has crossed Rs 200 crore.

Statistics from Bengaluru traffic police show that Rs 207.35 crore was collected between January and October this year from 51.8 lakh errant motorists. In contrast, the city police had registered 82.9 lakh cases in 2024, collecting Rs 84.91 crore in fines for the entire year.

Officials said the sharp increase in fine collection was primarily due to the 50 percent discount offered on pending fines between August 23 and September 14 this year. During this period, a total of 3,86,173 cases were settled, bringing in Rs 106 crore.
