India sends its 100th satellite in space: India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, in its forty second flight (PSLV-C40), successfully launched the 710 kg Cartosat-2 Series Satellite for earth observation and 30 co-passenger satellites together weighing about 613 kg at lift-off on Friday. PSLV-C40 was launched from the First Launch Pad (FLP) of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. (Reuters)

India sends its 100th satellite in space: India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, in its forty second flight (PSLV-C40), successfully launched the 710 kg Cartosat-2 Series Satellite for earth observation and 30 co-passenger satellites together weighing about 613 kg at lift-off on Friday. Launch of telecommunication satellite GSAT-17: GSAT-17 was inducted into the INSAT/GSAT system from Kourou, French Guiana by Ariane-5 VA-238 on June 29, 2017. Weighing 3477 kg at lift-off, GSAT-17 carried Payloads in Normal C-band, Extended C-band and S-band to provide various communication services. GSAT-17 also carried equipment for metereological data relay and satellite based search and rescue services being provided by earlier INSAT satellites. (PTI)

It was the thirty eighth consecutively successful mission of PSLV. (Reuters)
