After his bag was reportedly checked in Vidarbha’s Yavatmal, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray questioned if the election authorities would also inspect the bags of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders.
Thackeray had arrived in Yavatmal to campaign for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls when his helicopter was inspected by election officials.
He told the poll officials that he was not upset over this incident, Thackeray said, "You are following your responsibility and I will perform my responsibility."

However, he posed a question to the authorities and asked, "The way you inspected my bag, did you inspect bags of Modi and Shah?" He further pondered over whether bags of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his deputies, Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis, be also checked.
Thackeray said if the bags of the senior leaders of the ruling alliance (Mahayuti) are not checked by the election authorities, workers of Shiv Sena (UBT) and its allies in the opposition grouping (Maha Vikas Aghadhi) will inspect them. He also urged his party workers to also inspect the identity cards of the officials who checked them.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) also posted the video on X while taking a swipe at the ruling Mahayuti, which comprises the BJP, Ajit Pawar's NCP and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena.
"We believe in equal justice for all as per the Constitution written by Babasaheb Ambedkar. Those who rule by trampling democracy have decided to defy that Constitution at all levels. Today, Uddhav Thackeray's luggage was checked by some officials. A similar inspection of traitors' belongings must be done as well," the Thackeray-led Sena posted on social media platform X.
Voting for all 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will be conducted in a single phase on November 20. The votes will be counted on Novemebr 20. Shiv Sena was split into two factions, one led by Uddhav Thackeray and the other by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, in 2019.
