Coronavirus India highlights: Total confirmed cases in India have risen to 8.78 lakh. India’s COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 63 percent.

Coronavirus News LIVE Updates: Today is the 111th day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown, to curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. India has so far recorded 8,78,254 cases, which includes 23,174 deaths. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat have reported the highest number of cases. However, the recovery rate is rising and now stands at 63 percent.

Globally, there have been over 1.29 crore confirmed cases of COVID-19. More than 5.68 lakh people have died so far. Catch the highlights here:

    Coronavirus in Odisha LIVE Updates | Odisha allows home isolation for COVID-19 patients with mild or no symptoms

    The Odisha government has allowed home isolation for novel coronavirus patients with mild or no symptoms, and urged corporates, central agencies and PSUs to create small facilities for treatment as cases continue to surge in the state.

    Stating that the existing resources can be properly utilised if the mild cases remain in home isolation, Chief Secretary A K Tripathy said beds at the COVID hospitals could then be available for critical patients.

    As part of the state governments changed strategy, it is decided to allow home isolation of asymptomatic, mild symptomatic COVID-19 patients in urban areas, such as the 114 urban local bodies, district and sub-divisional headquarters and even block headquarters, Tripathy said during a briefing.     Coronavirus in India LIVE Updates | COVID-19 impact: Tech Mahindra employees pack their bags, move to guesthouse as Pune lockdown begins

    Tech Mahindra employees are packing their bags and shifting to a company guest house as the lockdown in Pune comes into force on July 13.

    The message, some employees pointed out, has come suddenly. Duration of stay would be close to 10 days, the duration of the lockdown, they added.

    These employees primarily include those who are working on critical projects. There are also employees whose clients are yet to give permission to work from home, said techies.
