The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), on June 28, informed the Supreme Court (SC) that it would be in the best interest of the students to hold the CA Exam 2021 on July 5 since COVID-19 cases were on the decline.
SC has adjourned the matter for June 29. It is likely that the apex court could give a decision on this matter this week.
SC was hearing a petition filed by CA students seeking a postponement of the July 5 exam citing COVID-19 concerns. Advocate Anubha Srivastava Sahai had filed a writ petition in this matter seeking an 'opt out' direction for students who can give the exams later.
In its statement, ICAI also said that the apex court had also allowed states like Bihar and Kerala to hold exams when cases were low between February-April 2021. It added that the third wave of COVID-19 is only expected to hit by September-October.
