The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced the appointment of union minister and party leader Dharmendra Pradhan as its election in-charge for Bihar polls. Party's CR Patil and Keshav Prasad Maurya have been appointed as co-incharges.
When will Bihar election be held?
The Assembly election in Bihar is likely to be held later this year, in October of November. However, an official announcement over the date is yet to be made by the Election Commission.
In the current Bihar Assembly of 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131, with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U)-45, HAM(S)-4, with the support of 2 independent candidates.
The Mahagathbandhan has a strength of 111 members with RJD leading with 77 MLAs, Congress-19, CPI(ML)-11, CPI(M)-2 and CPI-2.
West Bengal election in-charge
The party has also announced the appointment of Bhupendra Yadav as election in-charge for the West Bengal polls. Biplab Kumar Deb has been appointed as co-incharge.
Tamil Nadu
BJP has also appointed Lok Sabha MP Baijayant Panda as the party's election in-charge for Tamil Nadu, while minister of state (MoS) Murlidhar Mohol has been named co-incharge.
