Bengaluru's City Civil Court on Saturday granted bail to the wife (Nikita Singhania), mother-in law (Nisha Singhania) and brother-in-law (Anurag Singhania) of Atul Subhash, who died by suicide last month.
Subhash, a 34-year-old deputy general manager at a private company, died by suicide on December 9 in his Bengaluru apartment. He left behind a 24-page note accusing his wife and her family of harassment.
The father of Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash, said his son had been "broken from inside" after multiple cases were filed against him and his family by his wife.
"My son used to say that there is a lot of corruption but he will fight as he is on the path of truth...He was broken from inside, though he didn't tell anyone anything," Subhash's father Pawan Kumar told ANI.
Subhash's wife and in-laws were arrested last month by the Bengaluru Police. Following a complaint by Atul Subhash's brother, Bikas Kumar, an FIR was filed under Sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Nikita and her family for allegedly abetting his suicide.
During police questioning, Nikita claimed that it was Atul who subjected her to harassment. She also shared that she had been living separately from her former husband, Atul, for almost three years. She reasoned that she would not have stayed away from him if she had harassed him for money.
