RJD MP Manoj Jha to file nomination as Opposition candidate for Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman’s post today

The election will be held on Sept 14. Though Jha enjoys the support of 12 Opposition parties, they have only 91 members. NDA’s Harivansh has the support of 116. For a victory, 123 votes are required. Both candidates are from Bihar.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Member of Parliament (MP) from Bihar Manoj Jha will file nomination as the Opposition candidate for the post of Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha (RS) on Friday.

Speaking to Moneycontrol before filing the nomination papers, Jha said that the election, to be held on September 14, has immense value in terms of how to look at “engaged conversation in a Parliamentary democracy”.

Fight symbolic

Harivansh, also an MP from Bihar, representing the Janata Dal (United), is the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate.
