The final of Indian Premier League 2019 saw two champion teams in the history of the league fight out for an unprecedented fourth IPL crown. Three time IPL champions Mumbai Indians led by Rohit Sharma took on three time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings led by MS Dhoni. The venue for the summit clash was Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat. On a bouncy wicket, Mumbai Indians brought in Mitchell McCleneghan, replacing Jayant Yadav while CSK remained unchanged.

Thakur picked his second wicket of the evening when he caught Krunal Pandya off his own bowling in the 13th over. Krunal made a run a ball 7 as MI were 89/4.

Tahir burst into his trade mark celebratory sprint when he dismissed Kishan in the 15th over. Kishan's wicket took Tahir to the top of the wicket taking charts. MI were struggling 101/5.

Kishan’s wicket meant that the two big-hitters of the MI squad were united at the crease. Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard added 39 off just 22 balls for the sixth wicket. The partnership was broken by Chahar who trapped Hardik LBW in the penultimate over. Hardik returned with 16 off 10 balls.
