Mumbai's continued dominance over Chennai | The men in Blue defeated the men in Yellow at Chepauk in the Qualifier-I of the playoffs. This was Mumbai's third win over Chennai this season. MI is the only team to enjoy a better Head to Head win ratio over CSK. The win took MI directly to the final of IPL 2019.

Delhi Capital's amazing run | Ahead of IPL 2019 erstwhile Delhi Daredevils re-branded itself as Delhi Capitals. The change of the name saw change in the fortunes too as DC finished third in the league phase of the IPL. Third place finish took DC o the playoffs for the first time since 2012. Considering that Daredevils had finished at the foot of the points table in 2018, third place finish was a massive improvement. In Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Keemo Paul, Sandeep Lamichhane and Sherfane Rutherford the squad was powered by a group of young and dynamic players. The squad was balanced by the presence of elder statesmen in Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra. At the helm was a young captain in Shreyas Iyer. DC's dream run was applauded by cricketing world and its Shreyas described the called it a "dream season". Unfortunately the dream got over when CSK defeated DC in Qualifier-II to book their place in the final.

Women's T20 Challenge | With the idea of promoting women's cricket, Women's T20 Challenge was organized in the midst of IPL 2019. The tournament saw the participation of premium women cricketers. This year the event was expanded to a three-team challenge as Velocity joined Supernovas and Trailblazers in the fray for the championship. In a thrilling final, Supernova led by Harmanpreeet Kaur defeated Mithali Raj's Velocity. The build up to the mini tournament was low key but it ended with being a high-quality advertisement for women's cricket in India.
