J&K annual saffron production touches 9.55 tonnes in 2011
Jammu, Mar 12 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir government today said the state has registered annual production of 9.55 tonnes of saffron in calender year 2011, which is famous across the world. Replying to the question in Legislative Council here, Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir said the annual production has reached to 9.55 tonnes. He said 3,785 hectares of land are under saffron cultivation and the annual production has reached to 9.55 tonnes. Under Economic Revival of Saffron National Mission, there is no provision for bringing additional area under saffron cultivation, he said.
