Uttar Pradesh Drugs Controlling and Licensing Authority cancels Marion Biotech's manufacturing licence

22 out of 36 samples of Marion Biotech have been found adulterated with Ethylene Glycol, a substance linked to deaths of Children Uzbekistan.

The Uttar Pradesh Drugs Controlling and Licensing Authority has cancelled the manufacturing licence of Marion Biotech, the firm linked with the death of 18 children in Uzbekistan.

"We have cancelled the licence. There will be no manufacturing in the plant based out of Noida. The process of cancellation was initiated after the drug adulteration was detected in drug samples collected from the plant," Sandeep Kumar Chaurasia, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety And Drug Administration, Uttar Pradesh told Moneycontrol.

The decision to cancel the licence was taken unanimously by CDSCO and State health regulator.

Three employees have been arrested by Noida police and the lookout notice is issued for two of its directors.
