Viaan Industries has signed an exclusive licensing deal with Stream Live Inc, USA to launch a digital live quiz show for India. In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Raj Kundra, MD of the company spoke about the latest happenings in his company and sector.
It is a deal with one of the best companies in America for setting the app, said Kundra.
To play the quiz show on the phone, one needs to download the app, said Kundra, adding that the app enables 5 million concurrent players to watch the game and answer 12 questions. Those who answer the 12 questions correctly, get the jackpot.
The benefit of the deal would be in terms of ad revenues – because before every question, the user will see an ad and sometimes the questions could be related to the ad. It is captive advertising which will benefit both the player and advertiser, said Kundra.
It would benefit the player because he is not paying for anything but still has a chance to win price money. The idea is to increase the price money – as ad revenue increases, the price money will increase. Currently, it is fixed at Rs lakh per day per show.
Talking about the license fee, he said it is on profit sharing basis. The company has already tied up with ten anchor advertisers for placing ads on a CPM model.
The core focus for the company remains live gaming, interactive gaming – licensing technology and to stay ahead of the curve and beat competition before market gets cluttered, said Kundra.
Setting up high targets for FY19, he said they are eyeing revenues between Rs 320-350 crore, with a bottom line of Rs 35-40 crore.
