Simultaneously, around 55 stocks a fresh all-time high number. Some of the names include Avenue Supermarts, MEP Infra, and Raymond, among others.
Frontline indices on the market continued with its positive momentum on the D-Street, with the Sensex soaring over 150 points intraday on Thursday, while the Nifty was up almost half a percent in the first half of the session.
Public sector banks such as State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and BHEL gained the most on both indices, while Bajaj Auto and ONGC lost the most as well.
"We have seen reasonable amount of profit taking and sector/stock rotation is the order of the day," Krishna Kumar Karwa of Emkay Global Financial Services told CNBC-TV18, noting the market is in consolidation mode.
Amid this performance, about 140 stocks touched new 52-week high mark on Thursday. Some of the major names include Ashok Leyland, Asian Granito India, Balkrishna Industries, BEML, Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company, Avenue Supermarts, Raymond, Shankara Building Products, Speciality Restaurants, TeamLease Services and Welspun Corp, among others.
Not just these stocks, around 55 stocks also hit their life-time highs. Some of those names include, Chambal Fertilisers, Avenue Supermarts, Lakshmi Vilas Bank, MEP Infra, Mahindra Holidays, Page Industries, and Raymond, among others clocked their all-time high mark.
