Mangal Keshav`s view on Chilli, Jeera, Pepper, Turmeric

Arrivals of chilli crop increased close to 0.8lakh bags while spot rates declined, backed by increase in supply; however demand for new crop was reported firm among local & export buyers.


Average arrivals of jeera crop stood around 35,000 bags while most of the supply got traded last week at auctions held at Unjha market. Spot rates for new crop closed up at Rs 116-Rs 118 per kg, as per local traders.


Spot rates of pepper garbled declined to Rs 378 per kg and that of un-garbled was down at Rs 363 per kg. Arrivals increased to 17 tons while trades too were up at 21 tons at Kochi market - IPSTA.


Turmeric arrivals: declined to about 17,000 bags at Nizamabad and about 8,000 bags at Sangli market while spot rates were stood around Rs 31-Rs 33 per kg while exchange quality crop was offered around Rs 36-Rs 38 per kg, as per traders. Erode market was closed for entire last week & is expected to re-open from Monday onwards.


Average price of small cardamom declined to Rs 843.4 per kg, while the maximum price offered was down at Rs 1,230.5 per kg, as per spice board. Total inflow of small cardamom crop increased to about 62.2 tons from which ~60.6 tons were sold at CPMC auction held at Kumily.


Arrivals of soya bean crop stood around 50,000 bags (including 2,500 bags at mandis of Indore) while about 0.2-0.22lakh bags were reported at mandis of Maharashtra & Rajasthan.


Spot rates of Soya bean seed Indore (ex-mandi) closed up at Rs 29.3 per kg while that of Mustard Seed Rajasthan closed at 38.7Rs  per kg, as per SEA of India.


Guar seed arrivals declined to 3,027 quintals, while the average of the closing spot rates were down at Rs 26,598.5 per quintal, as per agriculture marketing board of Rajasthan.


Inflow of mustard seed crop increased to 136,583 quintals, while average of closing spot rates were up at Rs 3,483.4 per quintal, as per agriculture marketing board of Rajasthan.


Total arrivals of mustard seed crop declined further to about 4lakh bags while spot rates closed higher & were offered in the range of Rs 38-Rs 40 per kg, as per market reports.


Daily arrivals of chana crop have increased across major trading centers, with about 4lakh bags arriving against 3.5-3.6lakh bags. Spot rates hovered around Rs 35.5-Rs 37 per kg, as per reports.


Mentha oil futures witnessed a quite session, with range-bound movements session. Spot rates too traded steadily, as traders await new crop before
fresh purchases. However, supply was reported steady ~180-200 oil drums.
