Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has invested in Bold Care, a sexual health and wellness startup, to become a co-owner, the company said on December 1 without sharing the details of the sum invested or the quantum of the stake picked by the film star.
The Bengaluru-based firm said that a brand category otherwise considered unconventional got mainstream attention with the actor’s involvement.
“I am pleased to come on board as the face and co-owner of Bold Care. We are committed towards normalising conversations about sexual health and wellness, a topic that traditionally comes with stigma and taboo. People, especially men, are misinformed and shy to seek help," Singh said.
The actor's first startup investment was in direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand SUGAR Cosmetics. According to reports, his wife and actor Deepika Padukone is a prolific investor and has stakes in several startups, including furniture rental platform Furlenco, yogurt firm Epigami, electric taxi startup Blu Smart and Bellatrix Aerospace.
The actor said he always felt that sexual health and wellness category needed more openness and acceptance in the Indian society.
“That thought led to me endorsing a condom brand at a relatively early stage of my career. This time around, it’s a greater investment that one is making. We are probably one of the most sexually active societies in the world. This needs to be done," Singh said.
Launched in 2021, Bold Care has an annual recurring revenue of Rs 40 crore and sold more than 3 lakh units of condoms within 10 months of the launch. The company has processed more than 15 lakh orders.
“We have announced Ranveer (Singh) as the co-owner at Bold Care. His involvement over the past year has been nothing short of incredible, deeply engaging in every facet of our business. This is going to be an iconic partnership," Bold Care CEO Rajat Jadhav said.

Bold Care was looking to normalise conversations around men's health, especially sexual health, and Singh was passionately aligned with this vision right from the start, Jadhav said.
